Friedman for Governor: How hard could it be? I learned this morning that Kinky Friedman is running for Governor of Texas in 2006 under the campaign slogan, "How hard could it be?" At first I was merely very amused. Then I realized that I had heard this guy before. In the 1970s he was part of a band called "Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys". Kinky wrote, and they performed, such songs as "They Ain’t Makin’ Jews LiKe Jesus Anymore," "Ride 'em Jewboy" and, the one I remember especially well, that anti-feminist classic, "Get Your Biscuits in the Oven And Your Buns in the Bed." As you already know if you've followed the links, nothing is sacred to this good ol' boy. Who knows? If Ronald Reagen could be Governor of California and President of the United States, why not Kinky Friedman in Texas?
