Myelodysplasia Last month, I made passing reference to my brother being diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome or MDS. Sometime soon he will have a bone marrow transplant. With that in view, today he, two other siblings and I had blood drawn for marrow type matching. In lieu of a rather long post I wrote about this, I will just say that the book, Bone Marrow Transplants: A Book of Basics For Patients, on the Blood & Marrow Transplant Information Network (BMTinfonet) web site has good, easy-to-understand basic information, especially in the 1st chapter, "The Nuts and Bolts of Bone Marrow Transplants." I say this largely in case any of his more distant relatives, friends or acquaintances come across this blog and want to know more. I think this weekend he will probably begin his own blog. If so, I will certainly put up a prominent link to it.
